San Diego Food Not Lawns

Get Involved

We would love for you to join us - there's plenty to do! To add your voice and passion to the vision of our group and events, please come to a meeting and/or event. If you are unable to attend meetings, but still want to help in one way or another, send us an email and we'll contact you.

You can also stay current by joining our email discussion list.

Meetings: We have potluck-style gatherings to plan our events and keep up on any other details. You are not required to bring food - though do bring a plate and utensils (if you forget, we always get creative).

When: 6 pm to approx 7:30 pm. The "Central" chapter meets usually every two weeks. North County Coastal meets about once a month. It's best to check the projects calendar and discussion list for changes/updates!

Where: Current details will be on the calendar, though generally you can expect:
~ North County Coastal will likely be at the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation.
~ Central group at First Church of the Brethren (Friends Center)
3850 Westgate Place, San Diego, CA 92105 (map)
Meet in back room of building directly behind the office (1st bldg on left once you enter parking lot). Best place to park is on the cul-de-sac, then go through the wooden gate and follow sidewalk to back side. PARENTS: There's a nursery attached to it where crawlers can stay out of harm's way or go in a playpen.

Alternate locations sometimes:
- Activist San Diego (garage on Van Dyke)
4246 Wightman St, 92105 City Heights (map)
- On grass near concrete gazebo in MultiSports Park 92116
3400 block of School St, 92116 Normal Heights (map)

Agenda: We usually start with any introductions and review recent news and events, talk about our next steps, etc... Come share your voice!

Email Lists: At this time, the best way to get the most up to date news is through our email discussion list. The messages are often related to our San Diego FNL meetings or events, but list members may also send other information they feel the list might be interested in. That may include a link to an article, questions about compost or gardening, details about a local class or event, or other such messages related to food or our group. For more information or to join, please go to: sdfoodnotlawns on www.riseup.net

We also have started a newsletter-only list, which will (once we start) generally receive only one email every two to four weeks. For more info, go to: sdfoodnotlawns-news on www.riseup.net
